Amanda Anisimova v Maria Camilia Osorio Serrano Head to Head

This will be the first time that the two 17-year-olds will face each other.

Anisimova Looking to Make More History

Anisimova has already set a number of records this year: her run to the fourth round in Melbourne, made her the youngest player in the 21st century so far to get that far in a major, and she is the youngest woman in the world’s top 100.

Now she has an excellent chance of recording her first WTA title. Originally seeded six for the tournament, she is now favourite to lift the trophy with all her potential major rivals now knocked out.

She was given a test in her first round by the experienced German Sabine Lisicki, dropping the set before recovering to win 6-2 in the third. Her second round encounter with compatriot Varvara Lepchenko was more straightforward, easing through in straight sets.

Wildcard Osorio Serrano Looking for Deeper Run

Osorio Serrano is even younger than Anisimova, being four months her junior. She reached a career high of world number four in the junior ranks, but she is just taking her first steps on the senior tour.

She does have some history on clay, having won her first, and, to date, only ITF tour on that surface in Cucuta ((like Bogota in her native Columbia).

Currently ranked 438 in the world, she was given a wildcard into this tournament, and has taken full advantage of the opportunity afforded her, beating Switzerland’s Conny Perrin in the first round, and then overcoming Kristie Ahn, who had put out the top seed Jelena Ostapenko, in a tight three set match.

Anisimova is a different calibre of opponent altogether though.

Anisimova v Osorio Serrano Predictions & Tips

Anisimova is the overwhelming odds-on favourite to win this match at 1/8, whilst the Columbian is priced at 6/1. In this battle between the two seventeen-year olds, the American would appear to hold all the cards, and it would be a huge upset if the result was anything but a comfortable win for her.

Tip: Anisimova to win in straight sets: 4/9 (Unibet)
