Andrey Rublev v Quentin Halys Match Winning Odds*

Rublev v Halys Prediction and Tip

Rublev might not have had the best of times at the China Open last week but we still think he shouldn’t have a lot of trouble getting past Quentin Halys here.

Tips & Odds*:

Rublev v Halys Head to Head

Rublev and Halys have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Rublev Shocked in Beijing

It was a bit of a strange China Open campaign for Rublev in the lead-up to the Shanghai Masters.

Featuring in his first ATP tournament since the quarterfinal appearance at the US Open, Rublev was drawn to play Cameron Norrie in the very first round. That he managed to overcome a first set deficit before winning in three is due credit to the manner in which he has gone about his business most times.

This was followed by a shock second round loss at the hands of the 21/10 underdog Ugo Humbert and this time around it was Rublev who fell after winning the first set.

That made it 18-11 on win-loss for Rublev for this season which isn’t the best of records by his own lofty standards. Interestingly that has been compensated by his performances on clay but can he now end the season on a high by going deep into a hardcourt tournament or two?

Halys Stuns Karatsev

Such has been Halys’ form in recent times that it was no surprise that he had started off a 7/5 underdog against Aslan Karatsev. He had featured in five matches in the lead-up to this opener including two on the Challenger circuit and lost all five of them.

Against Karatsev, he refused to go down without a fight.

And that’s what looks to have turned the tide in Halys’ favour.

He needed two hours and nine minutes, was broken twice but came through 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-2 to grab a second round place against Rublev.

Halys will now hope he can replicate what his fellow countryman Humbert did to Rublev but the Russian could well be much better prepared this time around.
