Stefanos Tsitsipas v Daniil Medvedev Head to Head

The players have met thrice on the ATP Tour, with all of those meetings taking place in 2018. Interestingly, none of those matches was played on the clay surface. Medvedev has won all of those matches and presently leads by 3-0 in the head to head tally.

Their last meeting took place in ATP Basel where the Russian won in three sets.

Tsitsipas Starts with a Good Win

The 20-year-old Greek prodigy started his campaign in Monte Carlo with a straight-set win over Mikhail Kukushkin in the second round. This also marks the first time in his career that he reached the third round in the tournament.

Tsitsipas has had a pretty superb year so far, having made his debut into the top 10. With a win-loss record of 17-7 and one singles title – the Open 13, he has looked pretty confident throughout the season.

In the Australian Open, he reached the semifinal after upsetting Roger Federer and Roberto Bautista Agut. Later, he won the tournament in Marseille and was a finalist in the ATP Dubai. He achieved this feat following excellent victories over Hubert Hurkacz and Gael Monfils.

However, his performance in the Sunshine Doubles wasn’t that eventful.

A Similar Spell for Medvedev Too

Daniil Medvedev has had a season pretty similar to that of Tsitsipas. He won his first title of the year in Sofia. He was also the runner-up in Brisbane earlier this season – a tournament where he delivered brilliant wins over Andy Murray, Milos Raonic, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

In addition to this, the Russian was also a semifinalist in Rotterdam and later, reached the fourth round in the Miami Masters. His win-loss tally as of Monte-Carlo stands at 17-6.

He started the event as the number 10 seed and defeated Radu Albot in the second round with 6-2, 6-1. This win came after an equally clinical performance in the first round against Joao Sousa, where Medvedev lost just two games.

The Russian is currently ranked as the World No. 14 and is certainly a prime contender for a spot in the top 10. Just like his Greek adversary, he too has had his moments on the tour against the top players.

Tsitsipas v Medvedev Predictions & Tips

This match is too close to call, given that the two players are evenly matched. On the back of similar form on the tour, both of them will fancy their chances here. However, Medevev holds a psychological edge in the form of a 3-0 lead over Tsitsipas. At the same time, none of those victories came in straight sets, implying that the Greek is very much capable of putting up a fight.

Tip: Over 22.5 games in the match: 41/50 (888Sport)
