Elena Rybakina v Kateřina Siniaková Head to Head

This will be the fourth meeting between the pair. Siniaková leads the tally at 2-1. All three meetings between them happened last year. Rybakina won at Istanbul, but Siniaková prevailed at the French Open and Guangzhou.

Rybakina Looking to Continue her Purple Patch

The 20-year-old Kazakh has been in the form of her life this season. She started the season by reaching the final at Shenzhen and went one step further and won the second WTA title of her career at Hobart. At the Australian Open, she reached the third round before going out to local favourite Ashleigh Barty.

On the back of this impressive run, she is currently enjoying her best ever ranking at 25. Her next challenge would be to play more consistently on the WTA tour. Last year she primarily got most of her success on the challenger level but she also made some big strides on tour as well. She qualified for the main draw at two Grand Slams.

She also won her maiden title at Bucharest, which was only her seventh main draw appearance at the tour level.

This is her second appearance at the event. She reached the last eight stage at the event in 2018.

Siniaková Still Looking for First Victory of 2020

The Czech player has only played in two events this year so far, and she crashed out in the first round at both of them. Straight set losses in the first match at Shenzhen and the Australian Open means she is still looking for her first win of the season.

She is coming off a below-par 2019, where apart from a couple of semi-final appearances at New York and Nurnberg, she could not achieve a notable run. She crashed out in the first round at 16 events and ended the season on a run where she lost four out of the last five matches.

Siniakova has played at this event three times in her career, with her quarter-final run in 2018 remaining her best showing to date.
