Petra Kvitova v Ons Jabeur Head to Head

This will be their second meeting with Kvitova having won their first match at Wimbledon in 2019 in straight sets.

Kvitova Advances But Not Before Meeting Resistance

It’s been a slow and steady progress for the 2019 Australian Open runner-up, Petra Kvitova, who needed her third successive three-setter to win a match, and second in this tournament.

To be fair, Jelena Ostapenko, her second round opponent, had shown enough form in recent times to suggest she would be more than a match for Kvitova and for the Czech to come through was decent going.

Kvitova has had a solid season so far, with a win-loss of 10-2 along with one withdrawal last week because of an illness. However, having not won a title since the Stuttgart Open last year would probably be a rankle she would like to get rid of. And she has a good chance here to make the semifinal as she takes on a wild-card entrant, albeit one who has been in the best form of her career.

Jabeur at Her Career-Best

And that career-best of 44th in the world is thanks to the kind of form she has shown this year. Jabeur began the season on the back of a rather poor one last year, when she finished on a win-loss record of 22-23 and then began this year with a crushing 6-0, 6-3 loss in the first round of the Shenzhen Open.

Not too many would have given her any hope to then win 15 of her next 18 matches, including one in the quarterfinal at the Australian Open where she finally lost to Sofia Kenin. A couple of qualifying wins at Hobart took her to the main draw where she lost to Garbine Muguruza in the second round, and when she went down to Simona Halep at Dubai, it looked to have established a pattern.

While Jabeur was showing excellent overall form, she was losing to the top players like Kenin, Muguruza and Halep. Of course, in that Australian Open run she had gotten the better of Jo Konta, Caroline Garcia, Caroline Wozniacki and Wang Qiang but the biggest scalp of her career came earlier today when she sent the world number three Karolina Pliskova packing in three sets.

Petra Kvitova v Ons Jabeur Predictions & Tips

On paper, Kvitova should boss this contest but matches aren’t obviously played on paper and Jabeur has obviously shown enough to suggest she will take the fight to the opposition. We reckon we could see a three-setter here.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 8/5 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
