Gael Monfils v Richard Gasquet Head to Head

World no 9 Monfils and Gasquet are no strangers to each other as they’ve played each other 17 times. Monfils has the most wins with 10 in contrast to Gasquet’s seven.

Monfils Riding a Wave of Confidence in 2020

It’s been a fantastic start to the season for Monfils who has won 15 of his 17 matches. His victory over Uchiyama extends his winning streak to 11 matches.

Monfils’ fine form this season has been rewarded with triumphs in Montpellier and Rotterdam. The Frenchman defeated rising star Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final of the Rotterdam Open.

The only players to beat Monfils this season are Australian Open finalists Novak Djokovic and Dominic Thiem. And it seems the only players capable of stopping him in Dubai are Djovokic and Stefanos Tsitsipas, which is obviously for later. Here he will be up against a player nowhere close to his pedigree of tennis at the moment.

Gasquet Still Searching for Momentum in 2020

Gasquet missed the first month of the season due to a knee injury. He returned in Montpellier but had to retire in his quarterfinal match against Pospisil. Gasquet isn’t at his best and is still finding momentum this season.

Despite the little tennis he’s played, Gasquet has shown a lot of promise this season. He put in a solid performance in his loss to Mikael Ymer in the Open 13 Provence.

Gasquet is a seasoned player who does not rush into shots but instead constructs his points with pinpoint precision. His win over Paire in the round of 16 is proof that he cannot be underestimated. However, when you are drawn against a player who has been on the kind of run Monfils, Gasquet’s only hope would be dig deeper into those previous wins he has registered over him and take something out of them.

Gael Monfils v Richard Gasquet Predictions & Tips

Monfils should win this match in straight sets as he’s high on confidence and on a good run of form. The question is how long it will take Monfils to overcome Gasquet. Gasquet is a seasoned player and will definitely put up a good fight.
