Adrian Mannarino v Radu Albot Head to Head
The two have never faced each other in a competitive match before. This will be the first-ever encounter between them.

After a close first-round match against Martin Kližan that needed a decider in the third set, the Frenchman had a relatively easier match against Belarusian Egor Gerasimov, taking the tie in straight sets.
He started the match by breaking Gerasimov immediately in the first game, but the 81st-ranked player broke him in the subsequent game.
From then on, the games went with serve, until the fifth game when Mannarino broke his opponent, which proved crucial in giving him the first set. Additionally, he also rescued six break points from Gerasimov in that set.
The second set went with serve until a tie break was required, which ended up going Mannarino’s way.
That win takes him to his third tour quarter-final of the season. He did so in Cologne and the Astana Open as well, both of which were recent tournaments.
This shows a great recovery in form from the mid-season lull that saw the Frenchman suffer first-round elimination in five out of six tournaments from late August to mid-October.

Albot Stuns Shapovalov
Moldovan Radu Albot defied the odds and stunned top seed Denis Shaovalov 6-2, 6-4 to deny the Canadian a top 10 finish. Astonishingly, that was only Albot’s ninth win of the season, in one which he’s underperformed.
He started the match well and recovered a break point from the Canadian in the third set. He converted his own break point to go 4-2 up, and again rescued a break point in the subsequent game.
In the first set’s last game, he had two break points at set point and managed to convert one of those to take the first set.
One break point in the next set was all he needed to seal the tie and stun the previously-thought favorite of the tournament. Now he’s going to play in his second quarter-final of the season and will be eyeing another seeded upset.

Despite Albot’s spectacular heroics, this match seems like a relatively easy pick. Mannarino’s current great form should be enough to set him up for his second semi-final in recent weeks.
