The two have never faced each other in a competitive match before. This will be the first-ever encounter between the 24-year-old Czech, Muchová, and the 23-year-old Russian, Kasatkina.

The first set proved to be the closer of the two sets. After a slow start, Muchová found herself 4-2 down when Kovinić capitalized on her only break point of the set. Muchova won the next four games, including breaking her opponent twice, to cap the set off magnificently 6-4.
With the wind in her sails, the second set proved to be one-way traffic.
After Kovinić took the second set’s first game, Muchová won the next six games, including breaking Kovinić thrice and saving the only break point she faced to win the set 6-1.
With such performances, the 24-year-old can not only expect to reach the later stages of this tournament but to also break into the top 20 for the first time in her career; something that her second-round opponent knows too well about.

Kasatkina Edges Past Wang In Close Clash
Facing a former top 15 player in Qiang Wang, Kasatkina—a former top 15 player herself—showed glimpses of her past form as she edged the three-set clash.
Two break points were all she needed to take the first set 6-3, in a set that she thoroughly controlled, winning more than twice as many points as Wang in that set.
The second set was an entertaining affair. Kasatkina failed to convert her only two break points but managed to save three of the four break points that she faced. However, Wang’s sole converted break point proved crucial in giving her the set.
The third set looked like it had slipped from the Russian’s grasp when she went 2-0 down. However, she won all of the next six games in a row, which included three converted break points, to take the set 6-2.
With such grit and tenacity, Kasatkina should strongly be favored as she heads into this second-round tie.
Muchová v Kasatkina Prediction and Tip
The two may both have had recently mixed fortunes in the past two years, but after great starts in this tournament, I’d expect a close tie in this one with both raring to go at each other. The value, therefore, seems in anticipating a large number of games between the two; or, alternatively, for the winner to have to prove herself in a third set.
