Hurkacz Sees Off Quiroz Challenge

Hubert Hurkacz overcame a slow start to beat Ecuador’s Roberto Quiroz in straight sets on Monday to sail into the semifinal of the Delray Beach Open.

The World No. 293, Quiroz, who won four matches, including the qualifiers, on the trot to reach the quarterfinals, seized early initiative by breaking early in the first set.

The Pole, however, came back into the contest by getting the break back and then forcing another to take the first set. He dominated the second set to win the contest 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 26 minutes.

On Sunday, Hurkacz had needed just under an hour to beat Colombia’s Daniel Elahi Galan 6-2, 6-2 in the Round of 16.

The 6’5” World No. 35, who is looking to add to his only ATP title won in Winston Salem in 2019, faces a very tricky opponent in Harrison on Tuesday.

Harrison’s Fairytale Refuses to Cease

Christian Harrison’s fairytale run in the tournament continued as the World No. 789 surprised Italy’s Gianluca Mager 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in the quarterfinal on Monday to advance to the semifinal of a Tour-level competition for the first time in his career.

Harrison, who entered the tournament having won just two matches at the tour level in his career, had on Sunday ousted top seed Christian Garin 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 in the Round of 16.

Against Mager on Monday, the 26-year-old American won 83% of his first serves and converted 2 of 11 break points to win the contest in an hour and 35 minutes. It was Harisson’s fifth win in a row as he entered the main draw by winning two qualifiers.

Harrison, who has had eight surgeries over his career, hasn’t dropped a set in the past three rounds and will look to continue the momentum against Hurkacz on Tuesday.

Hurkacz v Harrison Prediction and Tip

Harrison’s surprise run makes this contest an exciting one and although Hurkacz is ranked 754 places higher than his opponent even he will be wary of him. It will be interesting to see if the home boy can pull another surprise. However, the Pole is expected to win this contest in three.

Tip: Three sets in the match: 2/1(bet365)
