Zverev Aiming to Better His Rotterdam Showing

In the four editions of the Rotterdam Open that Zverev has played in so far, the German has reached the quarterfinal only once and never beyond. Having shown some a return to form at the Australian Open, this will be his chance to try and break that hoodoo.

Speaking of Zverev’s form, it was on display at the season’s first major where he reached the quarterfinal. Drawn to face the world number one, Novak Djokovic, he managed to get himself in front by winning the first set but the Serb then came back to win in four, including another tie-breaker in the fourth set.

Zverev had earlier made a slow start to the season with a 1-2 win-loss record at the ATP Cup, winning against Denis Shapovalov and going down to Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev.

As was the case towards the end of the previous season and now again in 2021, Zverev’s issues are more pronounced when he is up against the top five of the world but he doesn’t have too many issues against lower-ranked players. Like his current opponent.

Bublik Solid After Getting Close to Maiden Title

Ranked 46th in the world, Bublik has never won an ATP title in his career before this. But he is getting closer and that was on show earlier this year when he made the final of the Antalya Open with wins over Matteo Berrettini and Jeremy Chardy.

Unfortunately for Bublik, an injury ended his final early, having to retire from the encounter just two games into it.

Since then, he has lost in the second round at both the Melbourne tournaments, the tune-up and the season’s first Grand Slam, before entering the Singapore Open. At the time of writing, Bublik had dropped just nine games across two wins to reach the semifinal, and was to start a favourite against Radu Albot.

Either ways, Bublik has shown the kind of form that could make things difficult for his opponent if he takes the Kazakh lightly.

Zverev v Bublik Prediction and Tip

It shouldn’t be much of a surprise to have Zverev start off at 1/4 to win this one but expect Bublik to give his German opponent a gritty fight. Expecting over 19.5 games here.

Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 5/6 (bet365)
