Veronika Kudermetova v Kamilla Rakhimova Head to Head

There are no previous matches played between Kudermetova and the 150th-ranked Rakhimova.

Kudermetova Hoping to Regain Consistency

Having made an excellent start to the season, the second seeded Kudermetova has not had the results going her way over the past three tournaments. Since losing in the third round of the Australian Open, Kudermetova’s win-loss record reads an underwhelming 1-3, having lost in the first round of two of those three competitions.

Counting the Australian Open loss, Kudermetova is 1-4 over the past five matches.

At the Adelaide International, Kudermetova had gone down to the in-form Shelby Rogers, before Garbine Muguruza defeated her in the opener in Doha. And then finally at Doha, Kudermetova overcame Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in her opener only for her to lose in a tight three-setter to Belinda Bencic.

So while the Russian has had a few results go against her, it must be quickly added those losses have come to some of the top players in the world.

Now playing a 19-year-old qualifier ranked 150th in the world, Kudermetova, who had a first round bye, has a chance to shrug off her results from the previous matches and crack into the quarterfinals.

Rakhimova Finally Wins One

It had been that kind of a season for Rakhimova in which she had participated in five tournaments and never won a main draw match. In fact in three of those five, Rakhimova didn’t even qualify for the main draw, while losing to Ana Bogdan and Madison Inglis in the two tournaments she did make it to round one.

Fortunately for Rakhimova, she was drawn to play the 403rd-ranked Daria Mishina in her opening round here and while she was given a scare, Rakhimova made it through to her first main draw win of the season in three sets.

Rakhimova raced away to an easy first set win thanks to two breaks of serve, and looked to be heading into round two when she broke Mishina to go 3-2 up. She was broken back the very next game though and none of the players then found a way to get past the other’s serve after that.

The tie-breaker, however, turned out to be a one-sided affair with Rakhimova overcoming the loss of the first point to win seven of the next eight and the match.

Things are only going to get really tough for Rakhimova though.

Kudermetova v Rakhimova Prediction and Tip

Kudermetova is 4/7 to win this in straight sets and we don’t see how Rakhimova will manage to overturn her poor form to win even a set off Kudermetova.

Tip: Kudermetova to win in straight sets: 4/7 (bet365)
