Emma Navarro v Linda Fruhvirtova Head to Head
Navarro and Fruhvirtova have never played each other in the past and this would be the first occasion, when the two will meet in a WTA tour match in Charleston.

While both the players are ranked outside the top-400, there’s no doubt that Navarro has made an impressive debut on the women’s circuit. After competing in a series of challenger tournaments, the American launched her mission on the WTA tour and what an impression she has left on the pundits and her fellow competitors.
Navarro, who has a solid baseline game, was playing exceptionally well and dominated the proceedings with her heavy ground-strokes from the back court.
After winning the first set 6-4 with relative ease, she gained more and more confidence and then put her foot on the accelerator to claim the ensuing set 6-3. However, she was unable to replicate her performance in the second round as she lost to Veronika Kudermetova of Russia in straight sets.
Unlike her first round win last week, Navarro was a bit lucky in her opening round clash against Tereza Martincova on Tuesday. After winning the first set, the second set was progressing well, with both players holding their respective serves before Martincova pulled out from the contest, handing Navarro an easy passage into the second round.

Fruhvirtova Continues Her Good Form
Like Navarro, Fruhvirtova was also quite fortunate in her Charleston opener against former World No. 11 Alize Cornet as the Frenchwoman had won the second set in a tiebreaker before leveling the match at a set apiece.
Cornet, who has defeated the likes of Serena Williams at Wimbledon, is a tricky opponent and if she was 100% fit, she would have definitely posed great problems for Fruhvirtova.
However, with her movement curtailed due to an injury, Cornet had no choice, except to pull out of the contest and with that Fruhvirtova heaved a sigh of relief as she made it to the round of 16 of the competition.
Even though, Fruhvirtova was a little lucky in Round 1, there’s no doubt that she has been one of the most consistent performers on the WTA Challenger circuit in 2021.
Her 14-2 win/loss record for the season is simply remarkable. What’s more, she has only played two matches on the WTA’s main circuit. While she lost her maiden main draw match in Miami, she has an opportunity to make it to her first ever WTA quarterfinal in Charleston.
Navarro v Fruhvirtova Prediction and Tip
It is extremely difficult to predict the winner of this clash as both the players are highly unknown entities on the women’s circuit. Moreover, neither of the two completed their first round encounters as their respective opponents pulled out of their matches due to injuries.
So making any prediction based on their recent form won’t be right. However, considering the fact that Fruhvirtova has won more matches on the Challenger circuit, she should have a slight edge over Navarro in this match.
