Filip Krajinovic v Stefano Travaglia Head to Head

While these two have never faced off at the highest level before this, there have been two previous matches at the Challenger and Futures circuit. Travaglia won the match on the Futures circuit way back in 2011 while in their 2019 meeting on the Challenger tour, Krajinovic registered a three-set win in the semifinal at Heilbronn on his way to a title victory.

Krajinovic Gets Going at Monte-Carlo

It turned out to be a decent showing from Krajinovic at the Monte-Carlo Masters, which was his first tournament on clay. The Serb dropped just one game in his win over Nikoloz Basilashvili in his opener and then crushed Juan Londero in the second, winning 6-0, 6-3 to reach the third round where he fell to Fabio Fognini.

Before that run at the Monte-Carlo Masters, Krajinovic had also made it as far as the third round of the Australian Open, falling in five sets to Daniil Medvedev.

Krajinovic’s record on clay is quite amazing too. All his 10 Challenger titles have come on this surface, and in 2019, the Serb made it to the final of the Budapest Open on clay as well.

Interestingly enough, Krajinovic’s best ever showing on the tour has come on the indoor hard courts of the Paris Masters where he made it as far as the final in 2017.

Can he now start things off here with a win against the experience of his Italian opponent?

Travaglia in Strange Run of Poor Form

It has been a tale of two phases for Travaglia this season. It started with back to back performances of note for the Italian, when at the Antalya Open in January he made it to the third round and followed it up with a shock showing to take him to the final of the Great Ocean Road Open final where he fell to Jannik Sinner.

Still, wins over Alexander Bublik and Hubert Hurkacz in the lead-up to that title-deciding match would have been a shot in the arm for the Italian.

Except it wasn’t and his form has fallen off the cliff since then.

Since losing to Sinner in that final, Travaglia featured in six ATP competitions and hasn’t won a main draw match. A run of six first round losses was only been broken by a couple of qualifying wins at the Monte-Carlo Masters qualifiers but even that ended with a straight-set loss to Pablo Carreno Busta.

Can Travaglia pick up the pieces fast enough to break his losing streak?

Krajinovic v Travaglia Prediction and Tip

It’s surprising to see Krajinovic still starting out at 1/2 to win this despite his opponent’s struggles and we think those are quite good odds given the difference between the two.

Tip: Krajinovic to win: 1/2 (bet365)
