Marketa Vondrousova v Marie Bouzkova Head to Head

There have been no matches on the WTA circuit between Vondrousova and Bouzkova before this. However, they did face off in the final of the Perth ITF competition of 2017 and Bouzkova had won that one in three sets.

Vondrousova Returns Back to Favourite Clay

A former French Open finalist, Vondrousova has had no matches on clay since crashing out in the first round of the French Open last season. However, with her best ever result in any tournament having come on clay, Vondrousova showed she isn’t a one-trick pony with the way she began this year.

Other than losing in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open in what was the first tournament she participated in, Vondrousova has had some sparkling performances under her belt so far.

A semifinal at the Yarra Valley Classic where she defeated Nadia Podoroska and a fourth round appearance at the Australian Open have been two of the highlights of the year for the Czech. Later in Miami, following a first round bye, Vondrousova overcame Wang Qiang and then shocked Belinda Bencic to reach the fourth round.

Can she now continue with that kind of a showing on clay as well?

Bouzkova Hoping to Replicate Hard Court Form

22-year-old Bouzkova has never won a WTA title in her career so far but she came quite close to doing that earlier this season. The world number 56 went past Jil Teichmann and Bianca Andreescu to make it to the final of the Phillip Island Trophy and even took the first set off Daria Kasatkina before falling in three sets to the Russian.

Having earlier lost in the first round at the Australian Open, Bouzkova followed that up with semifinal appearance at the Guadalajara Open.

Bouzkova’s issues, however, become pronounced on clay. Over the last couple of seasons, Bouzkova has won just one match on clay and lost four in main draws of competitions, and even earlier this month, she fell in the second round of the Charleston Open to Ajla Tomljanovic.

Coming up against an in-form, clay-court lover would be a tough ask.

Vondrousova v Bouzkova Prediction and Tip

This looks like a straightforward result in favour of Vondrousova, but given she has been on a break for a while, we could see a three-setter as a result. A Vondrousova win looks the most likely option here.

Tip: Vondrousova to win: 4/7 (bet365)
