Keys v Dodin Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came at the Linz Open of 2016 where Keys had managed to overcome Dodin in straight sets to make it to the semifinal.

Keys in Big Trouble This Season

A former semifinalist at French Open, Keys enters this year’s edition on the back of a woeful season so far.

The American whose career-best ranking has read number seven in the world, has participated in six tournaments this season and won just three matches. Making it worse is the fact her defeats have come at the hands of players ranked lower than her most times.

Keys looked to have begun well with a first round shock of Belinda Bencic in Doha, having missed the Australian Open earlier this year, but followed it up with a defeat to Maria Sakkari.

Losses at the hands of Anastasia Potapova, Ana Konjuh, Sloane Stephens and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova made it four defeats in a row before she finally won one at Rome. That was immediately followed by another defeat, this one to Iga Swiatek in Rome, leaving her with an alarming 3-6 win-loss record for the season.

And while she starts off her campaign in Paris with a match against a player ranked outside the top 100, Keys could feel a tad unsure of her own game.

Dodin’s Won Just One Main Draw Match in 2021

She was once ranked 46th in the world, but Dodin’s slide has seen her dramatically go from that to 509th in 2019.

From there on, Dodin has gradually pushed her way back to her current 115th rank, which by itself is an achievement for the Frenchwoman. Unfortunately for her though, this hasn’t been a great season on court.

Dodin’s only main draw win on the WTA circuit came in Belgrade two weeks ago when she surprised Kristyna Pliskova in her opener there. But in the three first round matches and three other qualifiers that Dodin has played in, she has faced defeats making it a season to forget so far.

Even in the six ITF-level tournaments she’s played in, Dodin’s won just three matches – in short, a disastrous season in the making. Can she get past the American here?

Keys v Dodin Prediction and Tip

Keys, out of form herself, is 3/10 to win this but it might take her bit of an effort to get there.
