Jasmine Paolini v Stefanie Voegele Head to Head

The two ladies have met only once on the tour – in the 2020 WTA Istanbul. Paolini won that match 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

Paolini Looking to Make the Most of the Chance

Jasmine Paolini finds herself in a wonderful position after replacing Simona Halep in the main draw. She has gotten progressively better in her last couple of appearances in the French Open, having reached the second round last season.

Currently ranked #91 on the tour – her highest singles ranking yet – Paolini craked the top 100 after reaching the final in the WTA 125K series event in Saint-Malo, France, a few weeks back.

Despite losing to Viktorija Golubic in the final, it was a big feat for the 25-year-old Italian to reach that stage in a WTA event for the first time in her career.

Apart from that, she has mainly lost either in the qualifying rounds or the first round. Gippsland Trophy serves as a huge exception to this as Paolini reached the third round there.

Voegele Sailing in a Similar Tide

Stefanie Voegele of Switzerland has picked up just one win in her last three tournaments. Moreover, two of the last three matches that she has last on the WTA Tour have been against opponents ranked considerably below her.

That said, the Swiss has played in several clay tournaments this season – far more than Paolini. Her best run came in the Copa Colsanitas where she reached the quarterfinal. Since then, Voegele has played in Stuttgart, Charleston, Madrid Open, an ITF event, and the WTA Parma last week. In either of them, she never moved past the first round.

As for her overall performance in the French Open, the 31-year-old has crossed the first round just twice. The last time she did this was in the 2014 edition and back then, fell in the second round.

Paolini v Voegele Prediction and Tip

Purely in terms of form, Paolini has looked a lot better than her Swiss adversary. While she lacks the experience, she makes up for it with her play and dedication.

Expect the Italian to win this one but it may not be an easy game to navigate for her.

Tip: Paolini to win: 4/9 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
