Nadal Continues Dominance at Roland Garros

Rafa Nadal continued his dominance at Roland Garros improving to 102-2 for his win-loss record and his dominance over Richard Gasquet of France as he celebrated his 35th birthday. Nadal took the head-to-head to 17-0 against the Frenchman winning 31 sets is a row now against Gasquet, with the last time he lost a set being 13 years ago in 2008.

Seeking a record breaking 14th French Open title and a 21st Grand Slam title, Nadal looked strong in his opener apart from a small blip where he saved setpoint in the third set. The number three seed looked even more menacing today.

The Spaniard was off to a quick start winning the first set 6-0 and was up 5-2 in the second. Although Gasquet fought back for a while, and leveled the set at 5-5, there was no stopping Nadal who won the set 7-5 breaking again at a crucial juncture. The third set was even for a bit at 2-2, but Nadal ran away with it thereafter to close the match 6-2 in the third.

Holding every possible record here at Roland Garros, the 13-time champion plays Cameron Norrie next as we get into the middle weekend of the French Open and all eyes are already looking ahead at the blockbuster potential semi-final clash between Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Good Overall Season For Norrie

British left-hander Cameron Norrie has had a strong season and continued his good form this week here at Roland Garros.

He started his year well, losing in the final four to Sebastian Korda at Delray Beach and then continuing it with quarter-final appearances at Acapulco and Barcelona. He was also a finalist at Estoril where he lost the final to Spanish veteran Albert Ramos-Vinalos.

The highlight of his season however was at Lyon where he defeated Dominic Thiem and Karen Khachanov to make the finals before he lost the title round to the in-form Stefanos Tsitsipas.

He has had a good opening two rounds this week beating American Bjorn Fratangelo and then dropping only one set against another up and coming player, South African Lloyd Harris.

Norrie has already had a taste of the Nadal power this year and will know it does not  get more uphill than facing him at Roland Garros.

Nadal v Norrie Prediction and Tip

Norrie has been in good form in recent times and will be high on confidence, but he is playing Rafa Nadal at Roland Garros- and with that comes a sense of awe and invincibility.

Expect a straight sets win for Nadal into another round of 16 at the French Open.
