Maddison Inglis v Tereza Smitkova Head to Head

This will be a first meeting between the 23-year-old Inglis and the 26-year-old Czech player.

World No. 140 Madison Inglis of Australia is 7-9 across tournaments this year.

This week, she won her first round match at the WTA 125 in Bastad against Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian but was beaten in the next round by eventual champion Nuria Parrizas-Diaz of Spain.

The 23-year-old Australian right-hander, who reached a career-high ranking of 112 in 2020, is 2-5 in main draws on the tour this year, with her two wins coming against Kamila Rakhimova at the Philipp Island Trophy and against Australia’s Sam Stosur in Adelaide. She was beaten by Sofia Kenin in the first round of the Australian Open and didn’t qualify for Wimbledon falling in the second round of the qualifiers.

Inglis is a five-time champion and three-time runner-up on the ITF Cicuit and plays her best tennis on hard courts.

Smitkova to Play Her First Main Draw Match on the Tour in 2021

Facing Inglis in the first round will be World No. 488 Tereza Smitkova, who is 14-8 this year across levels.

Most recently, Smitkova reached the third qualifying round at Wimbledon beating Jaqueline Cristian and Barbara Haas in the first two rounds, but failed to make it to the main draw after falling to Wang Xinyu.

The Czech player has only played at the ITF level this year and at the qualifying rounds of the French Open and Wimbledon. An eight-time champion on the ITF Circuit, the 26-year-old reached her 13th ITF final in Bratislava earlier this year, but failed to win the title.

She won the WTA 125K in Limoges in 2014, defeating Kristina Mladenovic in the final.

This will be her first tour-level main draw appearance since she feature in Lugano in 2019.
