Fiona Ferro v Alycia Parks Head to Head

Ferro looked to have made a decent start to the season with a third round appearance at Australian Open and a semifinal in Lyon. Since then, however, things have gone pear-shaped for Ferro, who has barely won anything.
In fact, coming into his first round encounter, Ferro was on a five-match losing streak she finally managed to break with a straight-set win over Harmony Tan. Ferro won 7-5, 6-2 to march into the second round where she will take on youngster featuring in her first season as WTA player.
The French player got ahead on serve on two occasions in the first set, only to be broken right back. It turned out to be third time lucky when Ferro won the 11th game of the opening set and then served it out to clinch the lead.
It turned out to be a lot easier in the second as Ferro broke in the very first game, had a chance to repeat that in each of the following two service games before breaking again in the seventh game to complete the win.

Parks Wins Second Main Draw Match
Having made her main draw debut in Charleston earlier this year, Parks won the second match of her career as she downed Anna-Lena Friedsam in her opener here. This followed a win against Grace Min on debut before she had fallen to Ons Jabeur in the second round.
This proved to be a tougher win that her first one which had come in straight sets. Here, Parks needed three sets and over two hours to carve out the victory, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 to enter round two.
In a cagey battle, Parks raced off to a 5-0 lead in the first, dropped her serve once before finishing it off. It was followed by two sets in which both players won one break apiece that was enough for them to complete the set victory.
The second of those breaks came with Friedsam serving at 4-5 to stay in the encounter.
Parks will now hope to make it two in two but it won’t get any easier.

No surprises with who the favourite is but at 1/7, Ferro is too short for a win. Expecting a better showing from Parks in this one.
