Clara Burel v Kamilla Rakhimova Head to Head

Having made it to the main draw as a wild-card, Susan Bandecchi would have hoped to do a lot better than the pumelling she suffered at the hands of Burel in the opener.
Burel needed only an hour and six minutes to get past the local player, Bandecchi, as she dropped just two games en route her second round entry.
She dropped just six games on her own serve in the first set and in turn broke her opponent three times, and while Bandecchi started off well in the second with successive holds, Burel turned things around by the fifth game.
The Frenchwoman broke her opponent at 2-2 and then again in the seventh game to complete an easy victory.
This follows a top showing from Burel at the ITF level where she has already won a title this season and reached two other finals. She, however, now faces a way tougher challenge than what he had in her opener.

Rakhimova Registers Fighting Win over Rus
Not having any kind of form in recent months, Rakhimova had come into her opener against Arantxa Rus at 8/5 odds to win it. And that’s exactly what she did, even if it did stretch to the limit.
In a match that lasted over three hours and could have gone either way, Rakhimova edged past Rus 7-6 (6), 5-7, 7-5 to advance to the second round.
There were a total of 14 breaks of serves in the entire match, and while Rus won 14 more points on her first serve than her opponent, she wasn’t able to do too much on her second serve and that’s where Rakhimova managed to bring parity to the situation.
In the end, the Russian exchanged four breaks of serves in the final before using three match-points at 5-6 on her opponent’s serve to finish off the encounter.

While Rakhimova would be glad to make it to the second round, her overall form hasn’t been the best in recent times and we tip Burel to win this one.
