Filip Krajinovic v Radu Albot Head to Head

The pair have played each other twice before, and each has one a match previously. Krajinovic won on indoor carpet in Eckental, Germany in 2012, whilst Albot won their only previous meeting in clay on Heilbronn, also in Germany, two years later.

Beaten Hamburg Finalist Krajinovic

Krajinovic was given a bye in Umag, which allowed him time to recover from his exertions in Hamburg last week, where he reached the final, only to lose to the Spaniard Pablo Carreno-Busta.

That was his fourth senior final of his career, including the Paris Masters of 2017, and he has yet to find himself lifting a trophy at the end of a tournament, although he has enjoyed success on the junior tours, where he has won 12 titles, ten of them in clay court events.

Nevertheless, he can take encouragement from his performances in Germany, which include a big win over the top seed and world number four, Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Since reaching the third round of the Australian Open in January, he had not been further than that in any competition before Hamburg.

Albot Avenges Rune Defeat

Albot had been struggling for recent form before his first round match against the Dane Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune on Monday.

And the omens did not look good against an opponent who had beaten him the week before in Bastad and whitewashed him in the final set of that match.

And initially it looked like a repeat was on the cards as Rune swept through the first set in barely half an hour, dropping just one game, and breaking the Moldovan twice.

This time though, Albot hung on to the Dane’s coat-tails and, after the pair swapped service breaks early in the second set, he earned four more break points against the Dane in his next service game,

He could not convert any of them, but Rune failed to heed the warning and, when another break point presented itself, this time Albot converted it. He served out to level the match.

And the tide turned in Abbot’s favour at the start of the third set when he broke Rune again. One more break later in the set was the icing on the cake.

Krajinovic v Albot Prediction and Tip

Although their head to head record is even, Krajinovic is the higher ranked and seeded plater and, if he can transfer his Hamburg form to Croatia, will be heavily tipped to win.
