Jil Teichmann v Elena-Gabriela Ruse Head to Head

There has been one previous match between these two players and that came as recently as the Hamburg Open two weeks ago. It came in the first round of that tournament with Ruse taking down the favourite Teichmann in straight sets.

Teichmann Scrapes Past Bassols Ribera

She had come into this tournament on the back of a four-match losing streak and the nerves showed up in her opener.

Playing Marina Bassols in her opening round match, Teichmann needed to come back from being a set down to complete a three-set win in a little over two hours on the court.

Teichmann overturned one break of serve in the first set but was broken again in the sixth game to go 1-0 down. The pair then exchanged breaks of serves on two separate occasions in the second set but Teichmann managed to get Bassols when she broke her again at 5-4.

And in the third it was all one-way traffic as a now-confident Teichmann first took a 3-0 lead and then broke again to serve it out at 5-1.

Can she now take this win forward against a player who is ranked 137th in the world but coming into this one with some confidence.

Ruse Continues Winning Run

All season, Ruse had been struggling to register wins, with a semifinal in an ITF competition being her best.

All of a sudden, qualifying for Hamburg Open, Ruse went on to defeat Teichmann and a host of others like Danielle Collins, Dayana Yastremska and Andrea Petkovic to win her first ever WTA title there.

And needing to qualify for this tournament too, Ruse dropped just five games to get to the main draw and crushed Mandy Minella 6-3, 6-1 to win her opening round match.

The Romanian player was on court for an hour and 20 minutes, earing herself a whopping 16 break-points of which she broke her opponent six times in the encounter. And despite dropping serve twice herself, Ruse did not have too many issues getting through.

Now comes another big test but she starts off a favourite.

Teichmann v Ruse Prediction and Tip

Yep, Ruse shouldn’t have much trouble getting past Teichmann given her confidence from the previous rounds and that win over her in Hamburg. Backing Ruse to make it to the last eight.
