Bautista Agut Resumes Clay Tennis

Having last played on clay at French Open, Bautista Agut hadn’t had the best of seasons on this surface. Back to back wins at Monte-Carlo Masters and Rome Masters was all he had got before moving into the grass swing where Bautista Agut managed to enter round four at Wimbledon.

He returns to clay now at a tournament where Bautista Agut was a losing finalist in 2018 and followed it up with a quarterfinal appearance in 2019.

What’s interesting to note is Bautista Agut’s career performances on clay haven’t been top notch, especially compared to the other surfaces. His win-loss stands at 0.59, as compared to the 0.63 on hard court surfaces. On grass it’s another notch better at 0.69.

Can Bautista Agut resume his foray on clay with a win having earlier got a first round bye? Or will it be down to a difficult opening encounter for the Spaniard?

Rinderknech Breaks into Top 100

It has been a season to remember for Rinderknech after the Frenchman broke into the top 100 on the ATP Rankings having begun the season ranked 178th in the world.

And this has been thanks to Rinderknech’s performances spread across different levels – Challengers, qualifiers and main draws – which has seen him win 40 and lose just 18 of the matches he has played all year.

With a Challenger title already under his belt, Rinderknech followed on from his quarterfinal appearance at Bastad Open last week to defeat Dominic Stricker in the first round. He won 6-4, 6-4 in a match lasting an hour and 21 minutes.

Rinderknech got himself seven chances to break his opponent and converted two of those chances while saving the two chances of breaking his opponent easily. Can Rinderknech now surprise Bautista Agut in this second round encounter?

Bautista Agut v Rinderknech Prediction and Tip

While Rinderknech starts off 13/8 to win this, it does sound like he has the game to take Bautista Agut deep in this encounter. Backing Rinderknech to win a set at least.
