Karolina Pliskova v Camila Giorgi Head to Head

Wimbledon runner-up Karolina Pliskova moved into the third round in Tokyo with a tough three-set win over Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro on Monday.
The fifth seed got the only break of the first set to go one-up, but the Spaniard hit back in the second. Both players had a break each in the second taking the set to a tiebreak, which was dominated by Navarro, who blanked Pliskova to force the decider.
In the third, Pliskova got a break early and then had another later, to seal the contest 6-3, 6-7 (0-7), 6-1 in two hours and eight minutes.
Pliskova had an easy first round match against Alize cornet, beating the Frenchwoman 6-1, 6-3 in 64 minutes.
The last couple of months have been very productive for the 29-year-old Czech, who made it to two big finals in Rome and at the Wimbledon but finished runner-up on both the occasions.

Giorgi on a Roll
Italy’s Camila Giorgi has been in terrific form in Tokyo. She knocked out Australian Open finalist Jennifer Brady in the first round and then marched into the third round with another dominating display in the second round against Russian Olympic Committee’s Elena Vesnina.
Girogi dropped serve on the very first game of the match, but quickly got her act together and took control of things. She broke Vesnina twice in the first set and thrice in the second for a 6-3, 6-1 victory in an hour and 24 minutes.
The Italian, ranked No. 61 in the world, had beaten Brady 6-3, 6-2 in the first round.
The 29-year-old Giorgi, who has a 14-11 record this year, was a semifinalist in Eastbourne and a quarterfinalist in Lyon.
Pliskova v Giorgi Prediction and Tip
Although Pliskova lost their only meeting of 2021, she will still be the favourite to advance. Expect Giorgi to put up a fight, but the Czech to progress.
