Nick Kyrgios v Kevin Anderson Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between Kyrgios and Anderson and the South African has won both times. Those came in 2016 Chengdu and 2017 French Open.

Kyrgios Returns to Hard Court Tennis

Back in Australia at the start of the season, Kyrgios featured in a couple of tournaments on hard court surfaces, the Murray River Open and Australian Open. He won a couple of rounds at both, before going out fighting.

The Aussie then took a break from tennis for a variety of reasons and after nearly five months of being away from tennis, he returned to play at Wimbledon. There, he surprised Ugo Humbert in the opener and eased past Gianluca Mager in the second before retiring from his third round match against Felix Auger-Aliassime because of injury.

He will now return to hard court tennis, featuring in his first match on this surface since Australian Open as Kyrgios builds towards the season’s final Grand Slam.

His unpredictability has always been a concern but will the veteran himself be in peak fitness to take him down on hard court?

Anderson Adds a Title Late in His Career

Injuries have meant the former world number five Anderson hasn’t been able to play in a lot of competitions in recent times but somehow his fighting spirit has never waned.

This can be seen from the manner in which he added his seventh ATP title to his career tally, despite having done nothing in the lead-up to start out as anywhere close to being a favourite.

It came at Newport where Anderson won five matches in a row on grass, including one against Alexander Bublik and Jenson Brooksby to clinch the title.

Before that, Anderson had won a couple of rounds at Great Ocean Road Open and Estoril Open but that was about it.

And while form on grass might not quite convert into hard court solidity, the Newport Open win is a strong indicator of where Anderson is physically – still very much a part.

Kyrgios v Anderson Prediction and Tip

Kyrgios has been tipped to be a favourite at 8/11 but if Anderson can look to push him into a third, anything is possible given possible fitness concerns for the Aussie.
