Brandon Nakashima v Trent Bryde Head to Head

Bryde, who is still finding his feet in the men’s Tour, he hasn’t had any previous occasion to play the much higher ranked Nakashima.

Nakashima Coming off Los Cabos Runnerup

Rising up rungs in the men’s game, Nakashima had a phenomenal run at the Los Cabos Open. However, he couldn’t bring home the gravy in the end as he lost in straight sets to Briton Cameron Norrie.

However, the skills and quality that he brought to bear on his opponents in the outdoor, hard court tournament will stand him in good stead going into his Atlanta opener.

Among the opponents who fell by the wayside in his surge to the tournament final were higher-ranked and more accomplished John Isner and Sam Querrey.

Currently ranked 115th in singles, Nakashima opened his campaign with a close-fought, three-set win over compatriot Jeffrey John Wolf and followed up with an impressive takedown of Querrey in straight sets.

He was pushed hard in the quarter-final against Australian Jordan Thompson but eventually prevailed in three-sets after winning a nervy tiebreaker in the decider.

Running into another big-server in Isner in the last-eight, Nakashima produced flawless tennis against the current World No.35 to win in straight sets.

Coming into the Wimbledon qualifiers on the back of humble finishes at Challenger events, Nakashima reached his maiden Grand Slam main draw at All England. However, the joy of having made the grade melted into despair after the 19-year-old went down in his opening-round clash against compatriot Taylor Fritz.

Carrying a good head of momentum and confidence into Atlanta, Nakashima would surely fancy going a step further than he did at Los Cabos.

Bryde Hopes to Make Big Gains in Atlanta

Coming into the calendar hard-court event as a qualifier, Bryde would be motivated to make a mark on the men’s Tour.

Ranked comfortably outside the top 1,000 in singles, the 21-year-old American, though unheralded at this level, will be hoping to spring some surprises on his opponents and go deep in the tournament.

Nakashima v Bryde Prediction and Tip

Nakashima, coming off a run to the final at Los Cabos, is the favorite to ease past the qualifier in his tournament opener and sail into the next round. However, with nothing to lose, expect Bryde to push his higher-ranked rival and go down fighting.

Tip: Nakashima to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
