Trevisan Has Been in Terrible Form

She was sensational at the French Open last year, reaching the quarterfinals on debut by taking out some big names en route. Come 2021 and Martina Trevisan has been anything but impressive.

The 27-year-old Italian comes to Romania with a 5-17 record across levels this season and is 1-7  in the main draws on the tour, with her sole win coming in the first round of the French Open.

The only bright spot for the former top 100 player this year was her run to the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 in Bol, Croatia. Seeded fourth in Romania, Trevisan will be desperate to start well and then build on that start as the tournament progresses.

It’s Been a Struggle for Pliskova As Well

Kristyna Pliskova had a 0-9 main draw record in 2021 before the start of Wimbledon, but a win over Astra Sharma in the first round of the Championships ended the losing steak for the Czech left-hander.

She would fall in the second round to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on the grass-court major, but a first win had given her the confidence to earn another in Hamburg the following week, where she beat Irina Bara in the opening round. But the joy din’t last long as she lost in the next round to Tamara Zidansek and then to Sharma in the first round in Lausanne.

Pliskova has won three more matches this year, but they were the three qualifying rounds in Qatar. So, overall it’s been a very difficult year for the World No. 132, who was the winner of the Tashkent title in 2016 and a runner-up in Prague in 2017.

Trevisan v Pliskova Prediction and Tip
