Çağla Büyükakçay v Kristína Kučová Head to Head

Kučová, Beaten Finalist in Poland

The younger of two tennis playing siblings – elder sister Zuzana retired in 2013 – Kučová reached a career high singles ranking in 2016 of 71 in the world.

However, after several years of indifferent form and performances, she has recently shown signs of a revival, winning her first senior final, the Prague Open, last September, where she beat the Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the final.

That was a 125k series event, and she went one better last week by reaching the final of the WTA 250 Poland Open, before eventually losing tit the Belgian Maryna Zanevska.

Earlier this year she came through qualifying in Miami and reached the second round before losing to Ashleigh Barty, but took the world number one to three sets.

And more recently in Hamburg, she again qualified, suffering another second round defeat at the hands of the American Danielle Collins.

Büyükakçay v Kučová Prediction and Tip

The Turk won their previous match in this same tournament, but that was five years ago, and the two players are in different stages of their career now. Büyükakçay seems to be in terminal decline, whereas Kučová  is enjoying something of a career revival. She will begin the favourite to make the second round.
