Davidovich Fokina Returns After Olympics Exit
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina made a third-round exit at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, losing to World No. 1 Novak Djokovic in straight sets. And he did not make a major contribution in doubles where he was also bundled out in the first round alongside Pablo Carreno Busta.
But on a more positive note, Spain managed to attain a podium finish at the tennis tournament with Carreno Busta mastering the upset over Djokovic in the bronze medal match.
Davidovich Fokina, like many of his compatriots, took a week’s break to recharge his batteries in order to prepare for an engrossing summer of hard court tennis in North America.
Last season, the flamboyant Spaniard reached the fourth round of the US Open, beating the likes of Hubert Hurkacz and Cameron Norrie. He will be defending a substantial number of ranking points in the latter part of the season. That means he will be keen to chalk up any points he can gain before the big battleground at Flushing Meadows.
