Karolina Muchova v Johanna Konta Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between Muchova and Konta.

Muchova has had an incredibly solid year and really solidified herself as a top-30 player on the circuit. However, her trip to Montreal did not go according to plan where she suffered a first-round exit to Oceane Dodin 6-3 1-6 6-2 in 1 hour 58 minutes.
This result does not define her 2021 though, the Czech has been very impressive, especially at the slams where she reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open despite a very tough draw and managed to defeat, Ostapenko, Karolina Pliskova, Mertens, and Barty before losing out in a 3-set battle to American Jennifer Brady 6-4 in the third.
In Paris, Muchova reached the third-round, seeing off Petkovic and Lepchenko in the opening two rounds before being defeated by Sloane Stephens 6-3 7-5.
It was another impressive grand-slam run on the grass courts of Wimbledon reaching the quarterfinals at the All England Club where she defeated French Open finalist Pavlyuchenkova along the way. The 24-year-old fell at the hands of Angelique Kerber 6-2 6-3.
Muchova will be looking to correct her early Montreal exit and display grand-slam like form in Cincinnati, she faces Jo Konta in the opening round who, when in form, is easily a top-10 player, so this is no easy encounter for the Czech.

Konta in Need of Matches
Konta has not played too many matches this year which has likely impacted her match fitness and mental strength on the match court.
It looked to be an exciting grass-court season for Jo as she lifted the trophy on home soil in Nottingham, defeating Zhang in the final 6-2 6-1, and the Brit was determined to carry this momentum to her home grand-slam.
However, a stroke of misfortune lead to her having to withdraw from Wimbledon due to being in contact with someone that had contracted COVID-19, an incredibly irritating affair for Konta as she could have made a deep run at Wimbledon.
The 30-year-old returned to the tour in Montreal where it looked as if she was still in good form, defeating Zhang again and then Svitolina before giving a walkover to Gauff and placing question marks on her fitness.
If Jo plays well, this tie promises to live up to be highly entertaining and fascinating and the Brit can trouble the Czech and potentially come out with the win.

A really fascinating tie that will be very high quality if both play well, this could very easily go to 3-sets, with Muchova being the slight favourite to advance to the next round.
