Belinda Bencic v Karolina Muchova Head to Head
This is the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.
Bencic Looking to Build on Olympics Success
World No. 11 Belinda Bencic has had a decent year so far, enhanced only by her success in the Tokyo Olympics.
The 24-year-old Swiss moved on to conquer the Summer Games by upsetting Marketa Vondrousova in the final to clinch the gold. Bencic also won the silver medal in doubles discipline with Viktorija Golubic to cap her picture-perfect fortnight in Tokyo.
She is competing in her first event since then here in Cincinnati and so far, she has been fairly impressive. In the opener, she defeated Vondrousova (again) in straight sets and later, delivered a similar performance against Shelby Rogers. After struggling a bit in the first set, Bencic moved on to win the match 7-6(1), 6-1.
So far in 2021, Bencic has won the finalist trophies in Bett1Open and the Adelaide International. Combined with a quarterfinal run in the Madrid Open, these have been her best WTA results to date. At the same time, she has seen a few surprising losses against the likes of Kaja Juvan, Golubic, Kristina Mladenovic, and Paula Badosa.

Muchova Eyeing Another Upset
World No. 23 Karolina Muchova delivered one of the biggest upsets in the Western & Southern Open by knocking out the heavy favourite Bianca Andreescu.
The Czech needed an hour and 26 minutes to win with 6-4, 6-2, dishing out four aces in the process and winning an impressive 78% of her first service points. This win follows a three-set affair against the Brit Johanna Konta in the first round.
Even though Muchova hasn’t won a singles title in 2021, she is certainly a force to be reckoned with. In the Australian Open, she reached the semis while in the French Open and Madrid Open, the 24-year-old went as far as the quarterfinal.
Last week in Montreal, she was beaten in the first round by Oceane Dodin but overall, Muchova still remains a prime contender for the title in Cinci.
Bencic v Muchova Prediction and Tip
This will be an intriguing match to follow as both players are evenly matched and are coming off a rather decent spell in 2021. Bencic will start as the favourite but don’t be surprised if she succumbs to the upset bug.
