Matteo Berrettini v Felix Auger-Aliassime Head to Head

Berretini and Auger-Aliassime have been involved in two career, head-to-head meetings till date, with the Italian winning on both occasions. They last met in the quarter-finals of this year’s Wimbledon Championships which saw the Italian prevailing in four sets.

Berrettini Beats Ramos-Vinolas to Make the Next Round

Playing his first Tour event since falling at the final hurdle in his quest for a maiden Grand Slam title at this year’s Wimbledon Championships, Berrettini was drawn to play Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain in his opening match at the Cincinnati Masters.

With no matches under his belt since All England, the Italian did look a bit ring-rusty in the opening set which went to a tiebreak and saw the Spaniard edging him 7-5.

Hurting from his loss in the first set, Berrettini came out all guns blazing in the second as he raced to a commanding lead over the Spaniard and held onto it to take the match to a decider.

Though Ramos-Vinolas was more competitive in the final set than he was in the second, class prevailed in the end as Berrettini closed out a win in three sets to set up a last-6 showdown with Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Though he holds a comfortable head-to-head lead over Auger-Aliassime, the World No.8 Italian can’t afford to relax against the plucky Canadian as he meets him for a place in the quarter-finals.

Aliassime Fights Past Khachanov

Though Auger-Aliassime hasn’t had a fruitful season when it comes to ending his quest for a maiden Tour title, the Canadian has taken some big strides in the circuit from the time he got together with Rafael Nadal’s uncle and longtime coach Toni Nadal.

Coming into the Canadian Open on the back of a last-16 finish at Washington and a run to the quarter-finals at the Wimbledon Championships, Auger-Aliassime crashed out early after losing his tournament opener to Serbian Dusan Lajovic.

Opening his Cincinnati campaign against this year’s Wimbledon quarter-finalist Marton Fucsovics, the Canadian rose from the disappointment on home turf to prevail over the Hungarian in straight sets.

Drawing seasoned Russian Karen Khachanov in the third round, Auger-Aliassime conceded the opening set after coming losing the tiebreak.

However, the World No.17 Canadian raised his game thereafter to take the next two sets in a breeze, setting up a mouthwatering last-16 clash against Berrettini.

Berrettini v Aliassime Prediction and Tip

Though the head-to-head record makes Berrettini the absolute favorite going into this last-16 encounter, Auger-Aliassime might be in the mood to spring a nasty surprise on the Italian.
