Anna Blinkova v Jil Teichmann Head to Head
Both of their previous meetings came on clay with Blinkova and Teichmann having won one match apiece. Their most recent outing came in Strasbourg earlier this year where Teichmann won in straight sets.

It’s not been the best last two seasons for Blinkova who has dropped from being 54th in the world to her current 81st rank. And her performances, even more so on hard court surfaces, have been quite disappointing.
Last week, for instance, in Cincinnati, Blinkova failed to make it through the qualifiers while earlier in the season, the Russian featured in eight such tournaments and won just one main draw match. That came at Phillip Island Trophy after Australian Open.
And while Blinkova did find herself a decent stretch on clay, a return to the surface where she has done nothing of note since the start of 2020 will make things difficult.
Especially against a player who has had a brilliant run in Cincinnati.

Teichmann Makes Deep Run in Cincinnati
At the time of writing, Teichmann is still alive in Cincinnati Open, awaiting to feature in her semifinal. And it’s not just reaching the semifinal that makes this a special result but the fact she has had to overcome some quite tight opposition.
After back to back routs of Sorana Cirstea and Bernarda Pera in the first couple of rounds, Teichmann then shocked Naomi Osaka to move into the quarterfinals where she faced fellow Swiss and Olympics gold medallist Belinda Bencic.
And when the 2/1 underdog Teichmann actually managed to get past Bencic as well, routing her 6-3, 6-2, it gave the indication some of her previous performances weren’t quite flashes in pans.
For instance, Teichmann had made it to the semifinal of another WTA 1000 competition this season – in Dubai – and was a losing semifinalist in Adelaide as well.
