Alexander Zverev v Andrey Rublev Head to Head

There have been four previous meetings between these two players on the ATP tour and Zverev has beaten Rublev every single time. This includes two victories on the hard courts of Shanghai Masters and Australian Open.

Zverev Registers Fighting Win over Tsitsipas

Two hours and 43 minutes is the amount of time it took for Zverev to dismantle Stefanos Tsitsipas in his semifinal but more than the time, it was his fighting spirit that came to the fore in their encounter.

Because at one set apiece, and two breaks down in the final set, Zverev looked dead and buried as Tsitsipas served to take a 5-1 lead in the set.

Instead, Zverev saved a game-point before getting one break back but Tsitsipas then rolled on to hold his next serve and go 5-3 up. A hold later, Zverev broke his Greek opponent again to level the match as he served for it the second time and then ran off with the encounter in the tie-breaker.

This fighting victory came on the back of easy victories over Lloyd Harris, Guido Pella and Casper Ruud in the first three rounds of this competition.

Zverev will now be gunning for his fifth career Masters 1000 title.

Rublev Shocks Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev was 1/4 to win his semifinal against Rublev and once he had won the first set, those odds shrank considerably. Medvedev looked like he was going to run away with the encounter with Rublev needing some sort of a break from some place.

The world number seven stalled the fellow Russian early in the second set by holding on to his serve, something he had struggled to do in the opening few exchanges of the first.

And then with Medvedev serving at 3-4, Rublev got himself five opportunities to break his serve in a game that lasted eight deuces and finally forged forward off the fifth.

Saving two break-points of his own, Rublev then held serve to win the set, before repeating something very similar in the final set. A break of serve in the seventh game was followed by another in the ninth to complete the victory.

Can he now tame Zverev in what will be his second career final at a Masters 1000 tournament?

Zverev v Rublev Prediction and Tip
