The French star also reached the quarterfinals in Gstaad, beating Kovalik and Greikspoor in the opening rounds, before falling short to Ruud 6-2 5-7 6-3 in 1 hour 50.
Seeded 12th in Winston-Salem, Paire received a bye in his opening round and will now face compatriot Gilles Simon.

Can Simon Capitalise on This Opportunity?
You never know which Beniot Paire is going to show up on court and Simon will know this. Despite being the lower-ranked player Simon will know he has a chance against compatriot and should go into the tie with confidence having won the 5 previous encounters.
