Max Purcell v Jordan Thompson Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 23-year old Purcell, and Thompson, who is four years older.

Purcell has enjoyed a double strike of luck so far this week.
First, having been knocked out of qualifying for Winston-Salem by the American Denis Kudla, he earned a place in the main draw as a Lucky Loser.
And then he found himself with a bye into the second round after his purported opponent withdrew.
It has been a busy few months for the 23-year old. A surprise semi-finalist at Eastbourne, he then won a Challenger event in Nur-Sultan, and, in the absence of senior players like Thompson, was chosen to represent Australia at the Olympics, reaching the second round in Tokyo.
However, he then failed to qualify for Washington and Toronto, and Winston-Salem looked like it was going the same way until fate intervened.

Thompson Overcomes Pella’s Challenge
Thompson, who was a beaten finalist in the doubles in Atlanta recently, with partner Steve Johnson, is busy with his preparations for the US Open, where he will be hoping to emulate his achievement of last year when he achieved his best ever result at a Grand Slam, reaching the fourth round before losing to Borna Coric.
And, unlike his next opponent, he was involved in first-round action, against the Argentine Guido Pella, the world number 64.
The Australian began strongly, breaking Pella in his opening service game, and then breaking again cruising through the first set for the loss of just one game.
However, having not even faced a break point, all that changed in the second set, as the match was turned on its head. This time it was Pella who achieved the double break of serve to level the match.
Thompson regrouped and, at the start of the third set, began to put pressure again on the Pella serve.
The Argentine saved break points in his first two service games, but, eventually he cracked, and was broken.
Pella saved two match points, and then a third, but, at the fourth time o asking, Thompson got the job done.
