A semifinalist at the 2020 US Open, Brady’s run of results for most part of this season haven’t been the sort she would have liked to continue on from where she was at last season.
In fact even when she made it to the final at Australian Open where she lost to Naomi Osaka, Brady looked like she was in line to break into the top 10 but all of a sudden things have gone rather pear-shaped.
She first went on a four-match losing streak, and while Brady did make it to the third round in Madrid and the same stage at Roland-Garros, a first round exit at the Tokyo Olympics and a second round exit in Cincinnati has made things rather difficult for the American.
Brady might be playing an opponent ranked 150th in the world but she will need to do well to get past her given Raducanu’s solidity in recent times.

Raducanu Eases Through the Qualifiers
As recently as in April this year, Raducanu was ranked 366th on the WTA charts but a few sterling performances since the first tournament she played this season in June have lifted her to 150th at the moment.
And it is on the back of these showings that Raducanu will also start off on an even keel in this encounter.
It shouldn’t come as no big surprise either. At Wimbledon, Raducanu made it to the fourth round where she had to retire from the encounter because of illness, but as if to prove this was no fluke, the British teenager went on to enter the Chicago Open final last week.
And while she lost to Clara Tauson there, Raducanu eased through the qualifiers here at US Open without dropping a set to enter the main draw.
Against Brady, she will have her work cut out but Raducanu will have the kind of confidence that one needs to get going against a hard-hitting player.
