Marin Cilic v Philipp Kohlschreiber Head to Head
The pair have played each other no fewer than 12 times before, and Kohlschreiber leads their head-to-head series by seven matches to five, dating back to 2007 in Moscow, the German winning in three sets.
However, it has been three years since they last met, Kohlschreiber winning at Indian Wells and Cilic at the Paris Masters.

Cilic won the US Open in 2014, beating Kei Nishikori in the final.
He was also runner-up at Wimbledon in 2017 and at the Australian Open a year later.
After reaching the final in Melbourne that year, he was ranked three in the world, but continued struggles with form saw him drop down the rankings.
However, he arrested that decline at the Stuttgart Open this year, winning his first title in three years by defeating the perennial runner-up Felix Augur Aliassime, in the final.
Then, in Tokyo, he overcame the disappointment of losing in the second round of the singles. By team-up with Ivan Dodic, battling their way to an all-Croat final. He eventually had to settle for a silver medal.
Since then, he made the second-round in Toronto and Cincinnati, but he was beaten by the eventual winner, Ilya Ivashka, first time out in Winston-Salem last week.

Kohlschreiber Makes His First US Appearance for Almost a Year
Now 37, Kohlschreiber is at the veteran stage of his career, and plays sparingly on tour these days.
Apart from his first round appearance at the Olympics recently, where he was beaten by Stefanos Tsitsipas, this is his first trip outside Europe in a year. The last time he appeared on American soul was when he was beaten in the first round of the US Open last year.
However, he has a good record in New York, having made the fourth round in three successive years, between 2012 and 2014, and again, three years later.
An all-court player, who has won tournaments on all surfaces in the past, he demonstrated his adaptability by reaching the third round of the French open in June, and then again in Halle.
However, he has only won once since, in the first round of Hamburg, and has not played since his brief appearance at the Olympics.
Cilic v Kohlschreiber Prediction and Tip
Cilic would appear to hold all the cards in this match. He has age, world ranking and a superior record in this tournament on his side, against a veteran who is making his first appearance on an American hard court in almost a year.
