Alejandro Davidovich Fokina v Marco Trungelliti Head to Head
The pair have played each other twice before on the Challenger tour in 2018 when the Spaniard was still a teenager. Trungelliti won both matches on clay.

The current Spanish number four, Davidovich-Fokina has reached his highest ever world ranking, despite the fact that he is yet to win a senior ATP singles titles, although, with partner Pablo Carreno-Busta, he did enjoy success in the doubles at the Chile Open in February.
Despite that, he has shown the ability to go deep into Grand Slam events already in his relatively short career. Last year he reached the fourth round at the US Open, where he beat Hubert Hurkasz along the way, before he was eventually beaten by Alexander Zverev.
And, in June, he went even further at the French Open in Roland Garros, making it through to the quarter-final stage before his run was ended by that man Zverev again.
Picked for Spain at the Olympics, he got to the third round before losing in straight sets to Novak Djokovic, and subsequently suffered first-round defeats in Toronto and Cincinnati.

Trungelliti Qualifies for Main Draw
The 31-year old Argentine has had to come through three rounds of qualifying to make the main draw in New York.
He was a set up on Blaz Kavcic before the Slovenian was forced to retire with an injury, and then he beat Liam Broady of Great Britain and then the American Aleksandar Kovacecic.
This is the second time he has appeared at this stage in New York. He lost in the first round here in 2018.
He is primarily a clay court player, having won seven titles on his favourite surface on the junior tours, the last of those successes coming two years ago.
However, he did make his first final appearance of the year in June in Biela, Italy losing to the Dane Holger Rune.

Davidovich Fokina has already shown the ability to handle the pressure of Grand Slam events, and he will start a heavy favourite against a man who beat him twice when he was a teenager, but whose career trajectory since then has been vastly different.
