Marketa Vondrousova v Alison Van Uytvanck Head to Head

Vondrousova has a 2-1 lead from their three previous meetings across levels.

Van Uytvanck won her Budapest title in 2019 by beating Vondrousova in the final, while the Czech won their most recent meeting in Chicago last month. Vondrousova was leading 6-1, 1-0 when the Belgian retired.

Vondrousova Searching for Consistency

Vondrousova comes into the tournament with a 22-16 season record across levels. She has been at her best on hard courts and a run to the final of the Olympics was by far her best performance this year.

The Czech, ranked No. 38 in the world, was also a semifinalist at the Yarra Valley Classic and made her round of 16 debut at the Australian Open, but the lefty had a disappointing run on clay. A finalist at the French Open two years ago, Vondrousova fell in the Round of 16 this time and couldn’t get going in any of the other clay or grass tournaments this year.

She struck form in Tokyo, knocking out Naomi Osaka and Elina Svitolina on her way to the final, but had to settle for a silver after losing a dramatic three-setter against Belinda Bencic.

Since then, Vondrousova lost to Bencic again in the first round in Cincinnati, reached the quarterfinals in Chicago, but fell in the second round at the U.S. Open. The 22-year-old who reached the fourth round at Flushing Meadows in 2018, began with a comfortable straight sets win over Elena-Gabriela Ruse, but fell to Daria Kasatkina in the next round.

Van Uytvanck Struggling for Form

A semifinalist in Luxembourg in 2015, Van Uytvanck has been a regular participant in the tournament. However, she hasn’t had much luck, barring that run six years ago, when she knocked out Ana Ivanovic and Barbora Strycova on her way to the final four.

The world No. 61’s current form isn’t good either, she has a 1-3 main draw record on the Tour since reaching the Round of 16 at the Olympics. Overall, the Belgian right-hander is 14-14 from all tournaments, including qualifiers this year.

A four-time winner on the tour, Van Uytvanck won an ITF title on grass in Nottingham, but has been disappointing on the tour with a 5-10 record in the main draws. Most recently the 27-year-old was beaten by Paula Badosa in the first round at the U.S. Open.

Vondrousova v Van Uytvanck Prediction and Tip

Van Uytvanck has been in terrible form at the top level this season and she will have to raise her game considerably to beat Vondrousova in the first round. The Czech remains the favourite, expect her to win in straight sets.

Tip: Vondrousova to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
