Clara Tauson v Marie Bouzkova Head to Head

18-year-old Clara Tauson is well on her way to etch her name in the history books.
Around the same time last season, Tauson was about to make her Grand Slam debut at the French Open when she was ranked World No. 188. A year later, she is placed at the #70 position in the rankings and has had a season in 2021 that can be summarised with a win-loss tally of 32-13.
The former junior World No. 1 won the ITF titles in UAE and Germany at the start of the season. She built on it by winning her maiden singles WTA title in the Lyon Open – a feat she achieved as a qualifier.
However, the youngster’s form took a dire hit in the subsequent events as she struggled to move past the early rounds. But in the Chicago 125K event, Tauson won yet another trophy – this time by upsetting Emma Raducanu in the final. In the US Open, she fell to Ashleigh Barty in round two.
Here in Luxembourg, Tauson has so far dispatched Astra Sharma in the opener and followed it with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(1) win over Ekaterina Alexandrova in round two. She may be the youngest player in the field but by the looks of it, that hasn’t stopped her so far.

Bouzkova Finds Reprieve in Luxembourg
Marie Bouzkova survived a three-set thriller against the Chinese Shuai Zhang in the first round. Following that, she met Greet Minnen of Belgium and moved past her in straight sets with 6-3, 6-1.
This marks a massive breakthrough for the 23-year-0ld Czech, considering that she had lost her last six main draw first-round matches on the WTA Tour. The last time she was in the quarterfinal was in WTA Birmingham where she fell to Coco Vandeweghe.
Before the WTA Birmingham, Bouzkova was on a five-match losing streak. With this kind of inconsistency, it is not too difficult to understand why she is ranked in the 80s. That said, she showed a lot of promise at the start of the season when she reached the final in the Phillip Island Trophy, losing to Daria Kasatkina.
Tauson v Bouzkova Prediction and Tip
Tauson may be inexperienced but her play says otherwise. She will start as the favourite but the fact that Bouzkova has managed to deliver in the past doesn’t entirely put her out of contention. Expect an intriguing game of tennis.
