Collins made headlines for all the wrong reasons last year when she was dismissed from the World Team Tennis season for breaking Covid protocols.

However, she has bounced back strongly in 2021, winning her first WTA title on clay in July in Palermo, and, a few weeks later, adding the even more prestigious Silicon Valley Classic title to her collection as well.

Those two wins helped move her back into the top thirty, after several years when her ranking had dipped.

Since that win in San Jose, she got to the third round in Montreal, but was beaten in the first round in Cincinnati by Shelby Rogers.

Bespectacled Belgian Veteran Flipkens

Now at the veteran stage of her career, Flipkens is instantly recognisable because she is one of the few women on tour who wears spectacles, something she has trademarked.

It has now been nine years since her solitary senior tournament win, in Quebec, although she has made three finals since, most recently on the grass of Rosmalen in 2018, although she did win the doubles at the Mallorca Open the following year.
