Ons Jabeur v Anastasija Sevastova Head to Head

The head to head tally between the two players is tied at 1-1, with Jabeur getting the last laugh. That match took place in the 2018 WTA Moscow semifinal, where the Tunisian prevailed in three sets.

Jabeur, Enjoying a Career-Defining Spell

Ons Jabeur has had a season to remember in 2021. With three WTA singles finals and a career-best, current singles ranking of World No. 14, she is primed for a deep run in the Indian Wells Open.

Her win-loss tally at the moment stands at 44-17, aided by her impeccable performance in the Chicago Fall Tennis Classic just last week. She reached the final there, moving past Elina Svitolina and Elena Rybakina before losing to Garbine Muguruza.

Jabeur’s other highlights of the season include winning the Viking Classic Birmingham and settling for the runner-up trophy in WTA Charleston. Additionally, she reached the fourth round at the French Open and quarterfinal at Wimbledon. All in all, it has been a terrific season for the 27-year-old who has lost in the opening rounds only in a handful of tournaments. She is consistent and bubbling with confidence.

Given that she has never made it past the second round in Indian Wells, she has got the perfect opportunity to make up for those results and deliver her best run here.

Sevastova Survives Hercog

Unlike Jabeur who enjoyed a bye into round two, Anastasija Sevastova had to start her campaign from the ground up. In the Indian Wells Opener, she defeated Polona Hercog 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 to reach the next round.

This also marks the first time since the Wimbledon that the Latvian won her first-round match on the WTA Tour. Since then, Sevastova featured in five different tournaments but was beaten in the opener itself. Her last stint was in the US Open where she succumbed to Katerina Siniakova in straight sets.

On the back of a largely uneventful season, the 31-year-old will hope to make amends but a lack of form and momentum may hinder her progress. Having reached the quarterfinal at the WTA Eastbourne, Miami Open, and Adelaide International this year, she has shown some promise so it is not entirely impossible for her to avoid a defeat.

Jabeur v Sevastova Prediction and Tip

Sevastova has the experience and to some extent, a fairly superior pedigree on her side. What she lacks is momentum at the moment – something which Jabeur has in abundance.

Expect an entertaining game of tennis where Jabeur will start as the favourite and is likely to come out on the top.
