Ons Jabeur v Danielle Collins Head to Head

In their one and only encounter on the WTA Tour, Collins emerged as the winner. The match took place in the 2020 French Open where the American won in three sets.

Jabeur Survives Sevastova

Number 12 seed Ons Jabeur started her Indian Wells campaign in the second round, with a hard-fought three-set win over Anastasija Sevastova. The Tunisian needed almost two hours to take the match 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3.

With this win, Jabeur has extended her 2021 record to 45-17. Currently placed at her best singles ranking as World No. 14, Jabeur’s highlight of the season came at the Birmingham Classic where she won the title, upsetting Daria Kasatkina in the final.

The 27-year-old also had a good run in her last WTA event in Chicago, where she stormed into the final on the back of impressive victories over Jessica Pegula, Elina Svitolina, and Elena Rybakina. She ultimately succumbed to Garbine Muguruza to settle for her second runner-up trophy of the season.

Needless to say, Jabeur has been absolutely smashing on hard courts this year. She has also done well in the American tournaments, reaching the quarterfinal in Montreal and third round at the Cincinnati Open and US Open.

Collins on Track to Find More Success

Danielle Collins too enjoyed a bye into the second round and started her journey in the valley with a walkover against Lauren Davis. The 27-year-old took a 6-1 lead in the first set (striking five aces and winning 100% of her first service points) before Davis retired from the match.

Currently ranked World No. 25, Collins too has enjoyed a decent run on the tour this season. She won back to back titles in Palermo and San Jose to lift her first WTA trophies and later, reached the third round in the Canadian Open and US Open. Her last stint was in Chicago where she made it to the quarterfinal.

Collins is a formidable player to face on hard courts, as evident from the fact that she is 23-9 on the surface this season.

Collins v Jabeur Prediction and Tip

Both players are heading into this match on the back of some exceptional tennis and brilliant form. While this is an evenly matched affair, Collins will start as the favourite. She has the home advantage and has looked far more clinical in the opener than Jabeur.
