Bautista-Agut Looking to End Year on a High Note

Batuista-Agut began the year strongly making two finals in Montpelier and Qatar, although he finished on the losing side each time.

He then went on to reach the semi-finals of the Miami Masters and was a quarter-finalist in Toronto.

Since then, a lilt momentum has gone out of his season, and he lost his opening match in Cincinnati, whilst his interest in the US Open ended at the third round stage.

Last week in Indian Wells , he beat Guido Pella in the first round, but then lost to the eventual winner, Cameron Norrie of Great Britain in three sets.

He was given a first round bye in Antwerp, but will be looking to end the season on a high note.

Fucsovics Overcomes Qualifier

Like Batuista-Agut, Fucsovics best performance of 2021 came early in the year when he reached the final in Rotterdam, eventually losing to Andrey Rublev.

And then in June, he reached his maiden Grand Slam quarter-final at Wimbledon.

Already assured of finishing the year close to his highest ever ranking, he would like to make sure in the few remaining tournament of the season.

He got his campaign in Belgium off to a winning start by beating the Austrian qualifier, Dennis Novak, un straight sets.

Fucsovics began the match badly. He was broken in his opening service game, and then had to save two more break points to stop him falling further behind. He rallied, however, broke back and eventually forced the tie-break.

He went on to win it in the end.

That marked a turning point in the match and suddenly it was the Novak serve under pressure. He was broken and then, serving to stay in the match, he dropped his serve once more.

Bautista-Agut v Fucsovics Prediction and Tip

Both men enjoyed better results towards the start of the year, but courtesy of his higher ranking and the fact he won their only previous match, the Spaniard will start the favourite.
