Grigor Dimitrov v Richard Gasquet Head to Head

Gasquet surprisingly leads the head-to-head 5-3, but it is Dimitrov who has won the last three meetings in the series including their clash at the 2017 Paris Masters.

Dimitrov Loses Early In Vienna

Grigor Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas were paired to meet in Vienna for the second season running, but this time right from the gate.

Dimitrov had beaten the Greek in their 2020 showdown, coming from a set down to win in three. He once again played fearless, attacking tennis that nearly took out Tsitsipas. In the first set, he held three sets points but could not take any and finish on the wrong side of a straight-sets defeat.

Now the Bulgarian is inching closer to a return to the Top 20 on his return to the Paris Masters. His season came to life during the North American hard court swing, where he made back-to-back semifinals in San Diego and Indian Wells respectively.

That sizzling run of form saw him notch wins over Reilly Opelka, World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev, Hurbert Hurkacz. But an in-form Cameron Norrie halted his charge.

Dimitrov reached the semifinals in Bercy during his last visit in 2019 losing in a thrilling match against Novak Djokovic.

Gasquet Gets Wild Card At Home Tournament

Richard Gasquet might not be winding down his career anytime soon, but the writing seems very much on the wall. A difficult season for the Frenchman has seen his ranking fall substantially to World No. 76 ahead of the last ATP Masters 1000 event of the season.

Gasquet has put together a 14-16 win/loss record in 2021, and considering that he did not cross past the 50% winning mark in each of the last two seasons, it is easy to see why many pundits and fans are drawing their conclusions.

A return to the Challenger Tour has yielded some confidence-boosting wins in recent weeks particularly at the indoor hard court tournaments in France. He made a semifinal in Rennes, and a quarterfinal at the Orleans Challenger, but still lags way behind the competition at the top-tier tournaments.

The 35-year-old has a received a direct entry into the main draw in Bercy as a wild card. He first played this tournament in 2003 as a 17-year-old.

Dimitrov v Gasquet Prediction and Tip

Dimitrov has never lost a first-round match at the Paris Masters since he made his debut in 2012. Given Gasquet’s decline in the past 18 months, the Bulgarian No. 1 is nailed-on to extend that record.

Tip: Dimitrov to win in straight sets: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
