Nikoloz Basilashvili v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

Basilashvili has featured in just one career head-to-head outing against Mannarino. The pair met in the second round of the Sofia Open in Bulgaria in 2017, with the Georgian carving out a hard fought win.

Basilashvili Eyes a Fresh Start After Setback in Vienna

With already two Tour titles against his name, taking his career tally to five, it has been a fairly satisfying season for Basilashvili. However, his returns from his season would read still better had he not fallen at the final hurdle of the Indian Wells Masters.

Though he failed to lift what would have been his maiden Masters 1000 title, it takes nothing away from a sensational campaign that saw him get the better of the likes of Russian Karen Khachanov, current World No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas and in-form American Taylor Fritz on the way to setting up a championship showdown with Cameron Norrie.

The 29-year-old Georgian looked to be on course to his biggest career win and title after taking the opening set in a breeze. However, the Briton had other ideas as he came out throwing punches in the second and blunted Basilashvili  to wrap up the set by a comfortable margin.

With the momentum firmly with him, Norrie humbled the Georgian in the deciding set to notch up his biggest career win and lift his maiden Masters 1000 title.

Refusing to dwell on his defeat at Indian Wells, Basilashvili got his Vienna campaign off to a winning start against Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta. However, his campaign was cut short in the second round by big-hitting Italian Matteo Berrettini.

The Georgian has a chance to atone for his Vienna miss in his opening clash at the Paris Masters on Monday. However, standing opposite him in the first round is seasoned Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.

Though their only previous head-to-head outing ended in a win for Basilashvili, fortunes swung wildly in the tie and it could easily have gone the other way.

Mannarino Eyes Payback Against Basilashvili

Coming into the Kremlin Cup on the back of an opening-round defeat to three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray at the Indian Wells Masters, Mannarino launched his campaign against Russian Roman Safiullin.

The Frenchman got his campaign off to a wining start, quelling a late charge from the Russian set up a second-round showing with home favorite Andrey Rublev.

And in an outcome that many didn’t see coming, Mannarino defied the odds to engineer a sensational upset of the big-hitting Russian. After falling to a defeat in the opening set, the Frenchman conjured a miraculous turnaround winning the second in a tiebreak and trouncing Rublev in the decider to close out a remarkable win.

The victory saw him set up a quarter-final outing Ricardas Berabnkis. Seen as the odds-on favorite after scalping Rublev in the previous round, the Frenchman went down fighting to the Lithuanian to blow his chances of lifting only his second career title.

Carrying the scars from Moscow into St. Petersburg, Mannarino fell to an opening-round loss to homeboy Karen Khachanov.

Though the Frenchman would be eyeing redemption in his opening clash at the Paris Masters on Monday, he has been drawn opposite the big-hitting Basilashvili who finished runner-up at Indian Wells.

With the home crowd behind him, the Frenchman will source motivation from his loss to the Georgian in their only previous outing in 2017 in his bid to make it all square this time.

Basilashvili v Mannarino Prediction and Tip

While ranking and head-to-head history favors Basilashvili going into this first-round clash with Mannrino, the Frenchman can count on home support as he bids to make it 1-1 on the head-to-head count.
