Alexander Zverev v Cameron Norrie Head to Head

Zverev and Norrie have featured in four career head-to-head meetings and are currently tied at two wins apiece. Their last meeting was at the Canadian Masters in 2019, which saw the German prevail in straight sets.

Zverev Hopes to Continue His Golden Run of Form

In what turned out to be a phenomenal last season,  Zverev added six more titles to his career ATP haul, zooming to World No.3 in the year-end rankings.

Among his glittering trophy haul last season was the title at the prestigious ATP Cup, which was also the last event that he featured in. Opening the new season with a first-round clash at the ATP Cup, Zverev would hope to continue his winning ways.

However, he faces a tough opponent in current British No.1 Cameron Norrie, who has go the Norrie, who got the better of the German in two of four career meetings.

The German is carrying the expectations of his country on his shoulders and would be fiercely motivated to get his country off to a flying start in the prestigious team event. If he plays anywhere close to the level he did last year, Zverev would be more than a handful for the Briton.

However, the German would be wary not to let complacency creep into his system going into his clash against the Briton as the latter also had a stellar last season would be keen to carry his purple patch into the new season.

Norrie Coming off Solid Season Too

One of the most improved players on the men’s circuit, Norrie lifted himself from the disappointment of finishing second best to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of Monte Carlo Masters to script a glory run that saw him win two Tour titles and putting himself in pole position to win more.

His run of wins saw him move to just shy of the top-10 in the men’s rankings at No.12.  With the British hopes in the ATP Cup resting firmly on his shoulders and that of compatriot and former British No.1 Dan Evans, Norrie would look to get his team off to winning start on Sunday.

However, fronting up on the opposite side will be reigning ATP Finals champion and current World No.3 Alexander Zverev. Though he has had more success against the German than any other player on the circuit in recent memory, Norrie would have to work his socks off if he has to get the better of an opponent playing the best tennis he ever has.

Giving him confidence going into Sunday’s clash is the two career wins he has over the German and if he can bring the same intensity to the clash that gave him two career titles last year, he would be very much in the contest.

Zverev v Norrie Prediction and Tip

While there is nothing to separate the two players with both being tied at two wins apiece, Zverev would hold a slight edge over Norrie as his last event ended in a memorable title win.
