Paula Badosa v Victoria Azarenka Head to Head

The two ladies last met in the Indian Wells Open final in 2021. Badosa won that match with 7-6(5), 2-6, 7-6(2) to clinch the title.

Badosa, Hoping to Continue her Great Run

2021 was a defining year for the 24-year-old Paula Badosa. She started the season outside the top 50 and managed to end it as World No. 8.

Her numbers alone are quite impressive – a win-loss tally of 43-17 backed by two singles titles (Belgrade Open and Indian Wells).

On the back of these sensational results, Badosa even qualified for the year-end WTA Finals in Guadalajara. There, she made it as far as the semifinal before losing to Garbine Muguruza. Nonetheless, she is now in the spotlight and with momentum on her side, there is no limit to what she can achieve.

Her other highlights of the season include a semifinal run in Madrid and quarterfinal feats in the French Open and Cincinnati Open. In the process, she also defeated many top 10 players like Ashleigh Barty, Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Maria Sakkari.

Azarenka, Bustling with Experience and Rhythm

Former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka had a decent stint in 2021, particularly towards the end of the season. She reached the quarterfinal in the Canadian Open and later, delivered consecutive third-round appearances in Cincinnati, New York, and Chicago.

The 31-year-old Belarusian ended the year with the runner-up feat at Indian Wells.

Her first half of the season was mired with withdrawals – she didn’t participate in her penultimate-round fixtures in the Grampians Trophy, Qatar Open, WTA Bad Homburg. Had she played those matches, Azarenka could have, in all likelihood, walked away with a couple of titles.

The two-time Australian Open champion is well-versed and experienced with the nuances of playing in the land down under.

After a more or less consistent season in 2021 – at least in terms of playing on the tour – she will fancy her chances of delivering a superior run this time around.

Badosa v Azarenka Prediction and Tip

This is a match that can very well go either way. Azarenka has the experience while Badosa has momentum. A three-set affair is definitely on the cards here.
