Daniil Medvedev v Alex de Minaur Head to Head

Medvedev Eyes Return to Winning Ways

Last season saw Medvedev reaffirm his credentials as a top player and one of the leading lights of men’s tennis by lifting his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open. That his crowning moment at the game’s biggest stage came against World No.1 Novak Djokovic made it all the more special for the wiry Russian.

However, his new season got off to the worst possible start as, leading the Russian challenge in the ongoing ATP Cup, Medvedev  slumped to a loss against French tennis star Ugo Humbert.

In a match that turned out to be a lot closer than the Russian tennis superstar would have liked, he bagged the opening set via a tiebreaker. . However, fortunes swung quite spectacularly thereafter as the Frenchman came out fighting in the second and cashed in on a break of serve to take the match into a decider.

After enterprising and intense tennis from both ends, the deciding set went into a tiebreaker. However, keeping calm in tense moments, Humbert pipped Medvedev in the tiebreak to close out a win in three sets.

Up against in-form Australian Ugo Humbert in his next on Thursday, the Russian ace needs to fid his bearings and best form to come out on the right end of the outcome.

As he has shown on numerous occasions, Medvedev, at his best could be more than a handful for top rivals and should fancy getting back to winning ways  if he brings the necessary intensity to the turf on match day.

De Minaur Sets Sights on Another Big Scalp

After claiming one of the biggest scalps of his career in the form of Italian tennis star Matteo Berrettini in his opening group-stage tie in the ongoing ATP Cup, de Minaur would be hoping to keep the good work going in his next.

However, standing opposite him is reigning US Open champion Daniil Medvedev. After the clinical win over the Italian star, the Australian won’t be showing any nerves against the World No.2 and would instead be filled with the belief of outgunning the Russian.

With de Minaur playing some of the tennis he has in recent memory in his opening group-stage match, there was no way back for the Italian. After bagging the opening set by a comfortable margin, he pipped the Italian in a tiebreak in the second to scram home in straight sets.

Against the Russian. the Russian would count on his swift  court movements and would also feed off the home support as he did in the win against the Italian.

Medvedev v de Minaur Prediction and Tip

With a commanding head-to-head lead over de Minaur going into Thursday’s clash, Medvedev will start as a strong favorite. However, de Minaur will be high on belief after the Berettini upset and would be tough to beat.
